Break up Dairy
2022, hand-embroidery, oil, canvas
My embroidery pieces are legible. I start from personal experience and memory. I want to establish my own monuments for what I want to document. But my works are not a linear narrative. They are more like the way how people’s memory is presented. All the images in my works are connected without sequence, floating in one space, inviting viewers to take a closer look and discover more details. Just like holding and reading a diary in your hand.
I am documenting my personal perspective using fabrics as a spiritual practicing. Every stitch and knot is like a pen in my hand, helping me express something that I don't know how to put into words. In the repetitive and slow process, I am asking, thinking, and reconciling with myself. I'm looking for a glimmering exit for me to escape and to release my own spirit.
